My Approach
What's the secret to effective psychotherapy?

The secret is there is no secret. There is no perfect therapy, no perfect client, and certainly no perfect therapist. Two things matter most in therapy: a caring, trusting relationship between client and therapist and a course of therapy that is likely to work. That's it.
Perhaps the secret is having a therapist who knows the lay of the land and who can help a client travel their chosen road, arising from the valleys and climbing the peaks chosen by the client.

Ascend Therapy Nashville was founded with the idea that every client deserves access to highly effective treatment in a warm, healthy, and inclusive environment in which they are valued.
I possess advanced trained in and have substantial experience with a variety of evidence-based forms of psychotherapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure therapy.
I strongly believe in offering therapy that has been shown to work. Otherwise, quite honestly, what's the point? You want things to change, and I want them to change in the ways you've identified.

When it comes to therapists, it's not enough to be a nice person with good intentions, and it's also not enough to offer effective forms of psychotherapy. What's needed is a kind of fusion, where therapist and client come together to forge a new and more fulfilling path for the client.
